Our time together was something like magical--the sun glinting through the tress and casting its speckled shadows; furniture out on the curb, whispering their stories as we passed; bright green grass reaching up from the ground, begging us to curl our toes across the lawn; and the air, hot but not consuming. It felt like fall--the season of change and new beginnings. My intention was that these photos somehow captured a bit of that.

They showed up to the shoot with a Mary Poppins bag, and we spent the afternoon making our way through the trove of toys--we set up the bubble machines, brought out a few of the fun umbrellas, and even took some time to fly kites. I genuinely enjoyed getting to know this family that makes vegan pizza, gets their son off the bottle by playing a modified version of the drinking game Waterfalls, teaches their 2-yr old to read, and has built a family that can appreciate a good Sumarai noodle bowl.
Meet the Remshardt Family...! I walked in to their lovely home on a dreary Sunday, and was welcomed in to lots of love, smiling faces, and youngens/pre-teens full of personality! We had fun finding the light in the house and getting to know each other a bit better. These boys are true gentleman and this family has a lot of love and respect for each other!
I loved watching Mom, Paige, dote on her new darling. Dad was wild about her as well! Their little boy just turned 5, and is about the most gentle, kind, silly little boy I have ever met. He started a little shy at first, as they often do, but quickly warmed up and began flashing those big, innocent, almond-shaped eyes. And he sure knows how to pose!
This is the Brimberry family. We met up, and I instantly fell in love with their little mister. He was a bit shy at first, refusing to drop the paci, but in time (and after the threat of alligators in the puddle near where we were shooting), he got a bit more comfortable and we had a bunch of smiles and laughs together. The ladies are twins, and although definitely sisters, I could already tell they were a bit like night and day!
I walked into the Alvaraz home in Pecan Grove, and instantly felt the warmth and comfort of family all around. Kids of all ages were excitedly bouncing around, as the effervescence of Christmas cheer had not yet run out! This is one of those families that you see in the movies. Beautiful, happy, silly, and full of love.
These precious pair are Richard and his full-of-personality little daughter Bryelle. I went to school with Richard growing up and, as most other Gen-Xers, we have kept in moderate contact via Facebook. So when I received an email from him asking about a session for him and his daughter over the holidays, I was thrilled!
Meet the Hughes family! Another loving and lively bunch. At the start of our session--it was raining ever-so-lightly, off-and-on in true Houston-fashion. We finally caught a break and even a little bit of sun, and so off we went--to get to know each other and get a snapshot of their family.
